1. Car Parking. Please park parallel to the rails at the start of the car park and clear of the tarmac drive as large vehicles must be able to pass and may need the entire width of the drive.

2. Book in before starting to fish by recording your name together with the date and time of arrival.

3. Read the Fishery rules. These are pinned up in the Booking-in hut. If you have a guest (both adult & junior) with you, please ensure he / she reads the rules before starting to fish.

4. Members are permitted up to 10 'trout fishing only' guests per season in total from 1st April 2024 to 28th February 2025. No guests are allowed to fish for pike during the pike fishing census i.e. January & February. There is a charge of £25.00 per day for guests who must be accompanied by a member. Guests may not be taken to the Fishery before 1st April 2024. Please complete the Guest ticket supplied in the Booking-in hut and place it in the Permits box before starting to fish. Please do not enclose cheques or cash with the form. The Treasurer will send you an invoice by email for payment in due course. Guests are required to sign in / out and complete the catch return form. Members take full responsibility for their guests who must read the Fishery rules before starting to fish.

5. Members are allowed to fish a maximum of three days in any one week (Sunday to Saturday). You may kill a maximum of 2 trout on any one day. However, only a maximum of 4 trout may be killed in any one week, of which only one may be a brown trout.

6. Only barbless hooks are permitted, or those with the barbs flattened.

7. Life jackets (available from the Boat hut) must be worn when using a rowing boat. Please complete the Boat Booking Form in the Boat hut before taking a rowing boat for one of the fixed timed sessions of up to a maximum of four hours i.e. 8:30am to 12:30pm, 13:00pm to 17:00pm & 17:15pm to dusk. Boat bookings are only allowed on the day that you are actually fishing.

 8. Boat safety. Pump out the rowing boat before leaving the jetty and always wear a life jacket whilst in the rowing boat. If any rowing boat is without its rowlocks, it must not be used under any circumstances.

9. Three rowing boats are available throughout the 12-month season.

10. Booking out before leaving the Fishery. Record the total number landed, the exact weight of each trout killed, recording rainbow and brown trout separately in the appropriate columns (on the Catch Returns Form) and the numbers of trout killed and returned. Please note in the ‘Comments’ column any large specimens returned alive to the water. Using the Fishery scales, record the weight to the nearest ounce. Do not record estimated weights, always use the scales.

11. Combination lock codes for the gate & Boat hut will be advised to you upon payment of your membership fee. Always jumble the combination when locking up. The password to enter the ‘Members Area’ of the website will be advised to you separately.

12. Your membership card carries important information in the case of emergencies. You can dial 999 or 112 codes for emergencies. Always carry your card when you are at the Fishery. Please read the Fishery rules and sign your card. Your card has an ‘Emergency Contact Tel. No.’ on the front cover. In the unlikely event that you become ill, or have an accident whilst at the Fishery, this will allow a fellow member to contact a member of your family, or a friend. Please ensure your card is easily accessible in this respect. By signing your card, you are agreeing to abide by the rules.

13. Ensure you have a valid rod licence from the Environment Agency & carry this with you at all times when you are at the Fishery, including your membership card.

14. Remember that Mallard Lake is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Nature Reserve. We have obligations to both Wiltshire Wildlife Trust to whom we pay an annual rent for use of the lake & Natural England, so the lake needs to be treated with care and respect.

Please click on the 'Fishery Rules' tab for further information.

We very much hope you enjoy your fishing at Mallard Lake.
