The Mallard Flyfishers Syndicate, located in Wiltshire, is a members Club which leases the private trout fly fishing rights of Mallard Lake from Wiltshire Wildlife Trust. We are located in the South West in the beautiful Cotswolds countryside on the Lower Moor Nature Reserve Centre near Oaksey in North Wiltshire and close to the Gloucestershire border. We are about 12 miles from Swindon and very near to the market towns of Cirencester, Malmesbury and Tetbury. Mallard Lake is one of over 150 lakes which forms the Cotswold Water Park, spanning the English counties of Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and West Oxfordshire. For SatNav purposes, our postcode is SN16 9TW.

We have our own dedicated car parking area on the Nature Reserve situated close to the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust Care Farm.

Fly fishing for trout is available throughout the year with no close season restrictions.

If you are looking for a Syndicate in a beautiful part of England, with some of the best trout fly fishing in Wiltshire, then look no further than here at Mallard Lake where you will be treated to a truly idyllic location in the Cotswolds offering both rainbow and brown trout that test the seasoned fly fisher, but reward you with trout that put up a supreme effort before being landed in your net.

Please note that as we are a members only Club, we do not offer half day or full day tickets / passes.

Mallard Lake is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) because of rare water plants, including Chara, a stonewort, which grows on the lake bed. The 22 acre lake has always been known for the quality of its beautifully clear and alkaline water. Its reputation for providing an excellent environment for superb trout fly fishing goes back to the mid-1970s. The banks of the lake and its five islands provide an exceptional environment for flora and fauna which abound on the site.

Fly fishing for Syndicate members and their 'trout fishing only' guests (both adult & junior) is available from the south and east banks and from one of the 3 rowing boats which can be booked for a fixed 4 hour session from 8:30am to 12:30pm, 13:00pm to 17:00pm and 17:15pm to dusk. There is no additional charge for use of the rowing boats. There are 7 buoys spread across the lake.

We offer both catch & release and catch & kill, although catch & release is not encouraged during very hot summer spells.

All our rainbow & brown trout stocks are sourced solely from Hooke Springs Trout Farm of Hooke, Beaminster, Dorset.

Our boats are sourced solely from J. M. Coulam Boatbuilders of Market Deeping, Lincolnshire, specialists in the manufacture of fishing boats. (www.coulam.co.uk).

Here at Mallard Flyfishers, we believe that membership of our Syndicate should be open to all genders and all ages. In particular, we would warmly welcome prospective new female and junior members. We are fortunate to have our own dedicated Angling Coach who is able to give tuition to both existing & new Members at a discounted rate. If you are interested, please click on the 'Contact Us' tab above and we will be in touch with you.

The Fishery is fully insured, including Public Liability insurance cover and other risks. Our insurance is arranged through the Angling Trust.

The membership fee is £295.00 per annum plus a one-off £40.00 joining fee for new members. Included in the fee is the opportunity to go pike fishing during January and February each year. Additionally, both existing and new members are required to contact Wiltshire Wildlife Trust direct to take out a membership with them, currently £36.00 per annum for single membership. They also offer joint & family memberships, priced at £42.00 & £54.00 per annum respectively.

We offer a junior membership priced at £150.00, with no joining fee, for young people up to 18 years old. Click on the 'Junior Memberships & Junior Guests' tab above for more details.
