MFF Rules of the Fishery

 All fishermen and visitors use the facilities of the fishery at their own risk. Please take extra care when people or animals are passing behind you while you are fishing. 

 Subscriptions are due 1st March each year. Late payment may incur an additional joining fee. 

 Trout fishing open from 2nd April to 1st January. An E.A. Licence is required. Brown trout must be returned to the water after 30th October by law. Fishing is allowed daily from 8:30 a.m. to dusk.

 Members of the syndicate are allowed to fish for trout a maximum of three days in any week (Sunday to Saturday). Fishermen may take a maximum of two trout from the entire fishery on any one day of trout fishing. A maximum of four trout may be taken in any one week. Catch and release is allowed although not encouraged in the warm summer months. 

 Members must book in before starting to fish and record the individual weights of the trout taken when booking out at the end of each visit. Nil returns must be recorded.

 Members are required to use barbless hooks, or those with the barbs flattened. Only fly fishing is permitted for the capture of trout.

 The boats must be emptied of water before leaving the landing stage and left in a clean condition and securely tied up after use. When fishing from a boat it must be moored to one of the buoys placed in the fishing area of the lake. 

 Life jackets must be worn whilst using a boat. Charge for use of a boat £2 for up to 4 hours in set sessions for one or two fishermen. Please complete the relevant "Boat Fishing" envelope and post it in the "Permits" box located in the equipment hut before taking a boat. Boat Booking Forms are located in the Equipment Hut.

 Members are permitted a maximum of 8 Guests per season. There is a charge of £12 per day (£6 in July & August) for guests accompanied by syndicate members. Guests may not be taken to the Fishery before 1st May. Please complete the relevant envelope supplied in the booking-in hut, and post in the "Permits" box before starting to fish. Please enquire about special rates for junior members.

 Absolutely no wading is allowed while fishing.

 No antisocial noise or behaviour is permitted; please remember that the fishery is a wildlife sanctuary.

 Members must carry membership cards when visiting the fishery.

 Please leave the environment as others would wish to find it. Do not damage trees, shrubs, plants or wildlife. Do not discard rubbish, cigarette ends, nylon fishing line or tackle around the fishery.

 The fishery rules are displayed in the booking-in hut as well as on the membership cards. Please ensure your guests are fully aware of the fishery rules.

 The Management Committee may cancel a member's permit, without refund, for infringement of the fishery rules. Guests who break the rules will be asked to leave the fishery without refund.

 Please report any exceptional incidents or observations - There are forms in the booking-in hut or, for urgent situations, you can phone 07855 225648 and leave a message for the Fishery Manager.

 Owing to restricted parking, vehicles must be parked tidily and using space economically. Car sharing is encouraged. Vehicles are parked at owner's risk. Fishing Car Cards must be displayed in parked vehicles.
