PIKE FISHING CENSUS RULES

Only bank fishing will be allowed between 8.30 am and dusk.
A daily charge of £5 to be placed in the completed payment envelope and placed in the permit box in the booking in hut.
Only flies, plugs and spinners with an overall length of at least 4 inches must be used, with traces of compatible strength.
No live bait or the use of freshwater dead bait to be used, only sea water fish may be used as dead bait.
Any trout caught must be carefully returned to the lake.
All pike catches must be recorded on the returns form in the booking in hut.
GREEN buoys are now in position
The white fenders which were marking the two new mooring positions on the lake have now been replaced by two green buoys. We hope they will be less noticeable than the white buoys at the other mooring places. The one towards the house in the SW corner is anchored in about 6 feet of water (when the lake is full) while the other, at the SE corner of the lake is a little deeper with the opportunity to cast over the deepest part of Mallard lake which is about 8 feet deep, from our investigations with a measuring stick.
The fenders have now been attached to the jetty to protect Coulam 15 from losing those all important hooks on the outside of the hull, for attaching the weatherproof cover. Please take extra care as the water level in the lake drops to ensure the hooks do not make contact with the jetty (or the posts) when the boat is moored.
Wincot has now been replaced by the Coulam 15
Please note that the jetty has been modified with temporary fenders to protect the Coulam 15 boat from damage. There are a number of small clips on the outside of the hull which are necessary for the fitted cover. Please moor Coulam 15 on the left hand side of the jetty (where Wincot used to be moored) and ensure it is resting against the fenders when tied up. The new boat uses the same size oars as Boat 8 and both boats are now fitted with the same size of rowlock which has solved the problem of collars slipping through the rowlocks.
Both boats are in splendid condition so please take good care of them and avoid collisions with the jetty and any other obstacles.
Boat to replace Wincot arrived at Mallard Lake 5/4/11
We took delivery of a second-hand boat as a replacement for the ageing Wincot boat. It is a Coulam 15 made by J.M Coulam of Market Deeping and has been in use for 7 years but is still in pristine condition. The following pictures show the arrival and launching by a motley crew....
Some work is required on the oars but, once they have been repaired and varnished, Coulam 15 will replace Wincot at the boat jetty. Hopefully within a week you may be able to test this boat alongside Boat 8 which we refurbished during March.
